SNOWY DAY..... We woke up to a surprise snow this morning...a very pretty one, at that. And with a five year old in the house, staying inside is not an option. I decided to take a walk around the block and photograph the things around me that I see each day. We live in a small town on a quaint street, with lots of older homes- and we tend to walk everywhere, as most of our town's amenities are nearby.

Come....take a walk with me.....

Hmmm......I see signs of children nearby- let's see if we can find them....

Ahh hah! Found you........

That's a pretty cool igloo you've got there......

We've come to the corner...and to my favorite tree on the block....

Very majestic.......

This is the favorite stop of the neighborhood dogs .......

Like this one....who really wanted to come out and walk with me........

The snow didn't stop the church-goers- I could hear them singing......

I think these neighbors would rather be near the ocean.......

The little bungalow on the corner....also home to about 20 feral cats......

Charlie, the horse's, home......

Don't think these will get used tomorrow.......

Ahhh......back to home sweet home......

What a treat to see all your pics! I love the bus and the fire hydrant! I like them all but those stood out to me....

Very nice.

Oh neat! Thanks for sharing a look at your neighborhood.

Moving there sounds nice... but dh will never leave the area since his mom lives here. ;)

And I'd miss my family too!

I never thought to look at a snow day through this kind of a lens, and you've inspired me to do just that. I guess it happens so often here in the north that I just never give it a second thought.

Next time, I'm hauling the camera out when the snow flies.

You have a lovely way of looking at the world. If I keep reading entries like this, I may yet be able to convince my wife that we, too, belong in a smaller town.

Thanks for the invigorating walk. I like your everyday theme. Cute igloo, a perfect place to hide.

I loved taking a walk with you! What a great idea. That's one impressive igloo, by the way.

I enjoyed the pictures, including the action figures. I wish we would get a surprise snow. It's been mainly ice here in Floyd.

What a unique & creative way to do a post!! I loved "walking" with you and remembering what it felt like to have snow as a kid. As an adult, I opine about how I'll have to drive to work, but as a child ... I just think MAGIC!

Thank you for the beautiful post ...

Love your photo story. I appreciate the time you took to put it together. I grew up in a house almost like yours in Northern Iowa. Was a pleasant surprise when I scrolled to the last picture!

I can't wait 'til those days! My little one doesn't much care for the snow now, but next winter should be a different story!
