Okay, all of you creative readers out there.... This is a photo I took nearby and didn't quite know what to do with. I'm going to have a contest to see who can come up with the best caption. I got the idea from Carmi over at Written Inc. It's a neat way to hear different perspectives and thoughts on the same photo. I've found when he does this on his site, some people come up with things I never would have thought about. So.....I'm eager to hear all your ideas....... I'll announce the winner Monday and put your name "up in lights" on my blog! :)

Boy, my brain has gone to sleep. Maybe I've just run out of gas...I can't think of a brilliant title.
"Gas Station Closed" =D
Nothing to Pump: Our Children's Future?
Looks like a great magazine article image (photoshop out the barbed wire?) for a piece about the "end of oil."
These old pumps are also such symbols of community--found at the old country stores that were also the post office, feed and seed, and checkers-playing hubs of a neighborhood.
This makes this rusty remnant of an era all the more lonely-seeming-- looking back on so much, looking ahead to such a bleak energy future if we don't change our ways in major and immediate ways.
fred- thanks for stopping by! i thought it was quite lonely looking, too. i like how you tied it in to our dependence on oil and what our children might face if that doesn't change....
WOW, great pic!
I have to think about a caption though...just got back from Kimikos party tonight (you know she is leaving us on Monday)... :(
Way too tired to be creative now....
I will be back!
How about this for a caption-- "Hey, did everybody forget about me? I'm feeling rather lonely out here..."
I'm too tired to think up a caption now, but I sure do love the photo. It has a "land that time forgot" wuality to it.
you did the best thing with it, posting it here. I love it .. it's there in the wilderness where there aren't many cars. What an irony.
I'm thrilled to see this nutty little feature of mine taking root.
Let me think for a sec...
The end of the road.
Pumped out.
Out of gas.
I can't wait to see what everyone else suggests!
I LOVE this photo! I haven't commented earlier because I keep wracking my brain for something that is both witty & succinct. Maybe if I stopped wracking my brain, it would just come to me ... all that to say, no cool caption here. Just wanted to tell you I loved the photo!!
Out of order.
That's the best I can come up with! LOL
A nice photo btw. :o)
hhhmmmm....
Got customers?
I know. I know....it is SO original!
:)
21th century Stonehedge. Maybe someday they will be like coming across dinosaur bones.
