No words needed. Touching and sobering. I do support samaritan's purse and world vision. Sometimes that's the only way we can help...one person at a time.

So hard to look at, but so important.

My kids did a Samaritans Purse project this past Christmas. We hope to be a bigger one this coming year.

Thank you for posting these pictures. How easy we all walk by and ignore.

so glad to hear of many of you supporting samaritan's purse- i think it's doing some of the best work out there! it does start with each individual doing what they can- and looking at our lifestyles to see if there are ways we live that are adding to the problem. And Prayer!!!!!! as Christians, we have keys to the throne of heaven and need to be interceding on behalf of the world.

amy & michael- i'll definitely be checking in to follow your journey. God has placed adoption on my heart, also, and i love other's stories. God bless!

harbour- i agree. we need to not get too comfortable. i think we should remind ourselves daily of how others live, lest we become complacent. my personal philosophy is that we're not here just to exist, consume resources, and be comfortable....... we each have a purpose and a plan...and we are supposed to be "loving" our neighbor- Love being a verb.......

We are supporting a child through Compassion. Wonderful way to share this opportunity.

Blessings to you. Mine is up at Child of God

Powerful post! Sometimes a picture says everything...Hopefully it will remind us all to do what we can.

Gripping photos. How easy it is for us in a land of plenty to forget the many in desperate need. Thank you.
You have a great blog, by the way!

Before I was a mother, these pictures bothered me. As a mother, they haunt me.

Jenny- "Haunt" is the perfect word for it......me, too. I see them in my dreams.......

Here's the thing I struggle with... do we see how we are a part of this? Both cause and continuance? It is something I'm trying to not only understand but also respond to in my own lifestyle.

bluemountainmama said...

l.l- i struggle with the same....it's such a complex issue. it's not just about sending money- so much of it is political, ecomomics, spiritual, etc.
and i've tried to figure out what i can do from my little, rural corner of the world. any thoughts or ideas?

we all know there is enough food to feed the whole world...but how do we get it to the places it needs to be? how do our choices affect that?

Powerful images. Thanks for sharing them.

Kirk and I just started taking a class at church on Globalization and Missions. Last night, we were talking about the pros and cons of globalization. Even though the world has become increasingly "flat" (meaning, in first world countries it is easier and easier for normal people to become majorly successful, a la My Space and You Tube founder fame), it is only flat for some of us. For a vast majority of the world, life is still about poverty and enslavement.

How pitiful. It makes me ashamed.

Hard to see. I had an ongoing fantasy as a girl that I would ride around in a black car and pass out sandwhiches to poor people. That was my life dream.

You are so amazing - thank you for these difficult pictures.
I wanted to slap the soldiers who seemed to be indifferent as they passed the starving woman and her children. And then I thought of my indifference, when I read a post and don't *out-click* on a way I can help.
Thank you again.
