Whisperings........

(Ponderings inspired in Cataloochee Valley)

Venerable valley, that time has forgotten.......do you mourn for those who left you behind?

When the winds blow and make these old boards creak and groan, does it stir up memories of life now gone?

The plow no longer digs deep in your ground... No more laughter, no more singing, no more church bells sound.....

But I believe you still remember, because you whispered it to me.... I heard the murmur on the cool mountain breeze.... You sang softly of age-old mysteries... and of life and death in this ancient valley......

Wonderful ruminating and photography. To have roamed those valleys in years past. . .

Love your pictures, we are lucky to be living in such beautiful countryside.

In answer to your recent question on my post about Brasstown Bald, it apparently is just across the state line from North Carolina's Brasstown, about 18 miles away.

I'm still enjoying your posts, although I can't comment as often as I'd like to because we're still on this crazy dial-up connection, which is ever so slow! High speed internet hasn't reached us yet :( Sometimes my computer just won't cooperate and open up stuff! Oh well.
Hoping to see you guys at the festival next month. We're probably going down on Saturday.

Valleysrun deep because memories settle there, and choose to lie undisturbed in the shade of the mountains.

The place, the photos, and your words are full of gentle beauty.

You and John over at My Viewfinder are really getting me wanting a road trip out of Florida and into the mountains.
