The beauty of this sunset you captured is really wordless.
Thanks for the visit.

Just absolutely beautiful. And, nicely composed. Most people would shoot this with half road, half sky, splitting the scene in half instead of allowing it to really tower.

beautiful, blue!!! i wish to witness an Appalachian sunset in life ..:)

And last evening i got home a movie from school library based in Appalachian mountains..This one's called, "Song catcher"...it's about a musicologist who comes to live with her sister in the mountains of Appalachia and discovers amidst all that beauty a spring of emotional tunes passed down from the original Scottish and Irish immigrants who settle din those parts..thats what the blurb reads ..i'm yet to watch the movie...maybe tonight. Have you seen it? Sounds like a movie after your own heart.....:)

The road leads right to it...beautiful!

moi- i have seen that movie. it is loosely based off of the life of Olive Dame Campbell who founded the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC, along with her husband. The only thing i didn't like was the Hollywoodization of it by portraying Olive as a lesbian, which she wasn't. i guess that part was added to make the film more edgy....but i would have rather had it more factual.

she DID collect these songs and had an incredible gift for remembering and documenting them. there is a documentary about her and her husband that aired on PBS called "Sing Behind the Plow" that is wonderful.

my mom teaches at the Folk School often and i took a lot of classes there during my teen years.

i should have guessed that you would not have missed a movie like that ...:)
my husband's out of town for a coupla days and i was gathering the movies in library that he would not normally watch and i'd like to (:D)..and when i came across this one , i immediately thought of you...will watch it tonight and come back to tell you what i felt about it :)

thanks for sharing the details and a little of your personal life :)

Oh, you know how blessed you are, don't you? To live in that place - it seems to me that the Father finds great joy in sunsets such as these, too...

I am still to watch the movie......went to a friend's place for dinner instead last night and was too tired to sit in front of the TV!!

and the trinket was bought to adorn my neck :)
Haven't worn it in a long time now...so it simply adorns one of the lamp switches at home these days :)
It's special though ..it's Himalayan handicraft and I love it!!! :)

Hope you are having a great week ...and hope SirLaughsalot is having a great time at school :)
