Morning Has Broken......

"Morning has broken, like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for the springing fresh from the word....

Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven
Like the first dewfall, on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where His feet pass...

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God's re-creation of the new day... "

- Traditional Hymn by Eleanor Farjeon

How fortunate you are to wake up to that scene! Love the lyrics to go along with it. I used these same lyrics once on a blog post here.

Have a great day!

That kind of view would make me sing that praise too. It was good to see all the words in print. I got a feel of how the song really all fits.

And I always thought these words were written by Cat Stevens...can't think of his new name just now. Nice to know the real source. I echo photowannabe...it's nice to see the entire verse in print. It gives you a different perspective of it.

Beautiful. Your image reminds me of the James Blunt song

"Beautiful dawn..
lights up the shore for me.
There is nothing else in the world,
I'd rather wake up and see"

Beautiful! I love that old hymn, too. In fact, I made a quilt from Jan Patek's pattern, "Morning Has Broken." It hangs by an eastern window where the winter sunrise streams through the trees to the chair where I sit for devotions. Morning has broken, mine because of God's love for me expressed so eloquently on a cross so many years ago.
Blessings,
Linda

I love this photograph. It captures how the morning sun can overwhelm the senses.

I like the lyrics too.

The Dawning, my favorite part of the day. The rising sun is full of promises for the new day!

I love pictures of sunrises and sunsets... I think they're amazing or rather God is amazing for taking the time to create so much detail in one thing.

You are indeed blessed to wake up to such a lovely view every morning. I've always loved that hymn. It has a gentle quietness that evokes for me the feeling of an early morning, before we all start our mad race to get somewhere.

This is my favorite hymn of all time... I love Michael Card's rendition on "Starkindler".

The picture is just what I imagine when I hear it, or sing it...
