Reflections...

My trail of tears,
where did it start?
I follow it like bread crumbs,
that lead back to my heart.

I like your poems. You use words so sparingly. The trail of bread crumbs is so evocative of childhood, trust and disillusionment (didn't the birds eat the crumbs in the story and leave the children lost in the woods?)

You look sad...not sad...serious. Are you OK there? I love the pic though!

yes, granny sue.... the birds did eat them. i forgot about that. :) that adds another layer to the meaning here.

anna.... it is a time of reflection in my life, and some of that involves sadness... with the intent of healing from it and moving forward. but yes... i'm okay. :)

Wonderful poem, Blue. It says so much with so few words. I like that. I remember when I was in my 40s going through a spell of deep sadness. At first I didn't understand what was happening, but then realized that I was going through a mourning for the loss of my youth. My life wasn't torn up in any way, I was just emotionally digesting the my passage into a new phase.

Touching meloncholy. There is artistry in your words.
I was going to ask if things were alright too, but read your answer to Anna and others.
Reassessment is good and reflecting on God's goodness is even better.
Have a wonderful Easter season Blue.

and can't help but affirm you following that trail of tears like bread crumbs back to your precious heart.

christianne.... if i took a picture of my toothy smile, you'd see the gap between my front teeth(which seems to be getting wider). we share even that.

The photo adds to the mood of the poem and makes me feel from my heart to yours. Is that what poetry does?

colleen- i think that's what poetry AND photography does. your poetry has done the same for me at times....

The photo and the words work fabulously together....I don't think it would have quite the same effect, if you had one without the other.....Powerful!
